MDC - Order Seedlings
The George O. White State Forest Nursery near Licking offers Missouri residents a variety of tree and shrub seedlings for reforestation, windbreaks, and erosion control, as well as for wildlife food and cover.
How to order
There are two ways to order, from Sept. 1 through April 15th by mail and April 30th for online orders. To get the plants you want, please order as soon as possible. Species sell out quickly.

Native plants offer much to celebrate— flushes of seasonal color and texture, pollinator and wildlife benefits, and the comfort of watching a beloved plant returning year after year. Although native Perennials immediately come to mind, native Annuals and Biennials offer many of the same qualities of beauty, benefit, and timeless appeal, all while providing some unique advantages of their own. Join experienced horticulturalist Scott Woodbury for a Master Class webinar examining these lesser-known growth categories of the native plant world, their habitats in the wild, and their uses in the home garden.
This webinar, to be held via Zoom, will include a presentation and a live question-and-answer session. As a Master Class, the private MPF YouTube channel recording link will be sent to all registrants following the live event. MPF Annual Dinner & Silent Auction
Join the Missouri Prairie Foundation for their Annual Dinner and Silent Auction to celebrate 60 years of prairie conservation on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Stoney Creek Hotel at 2601 S Providence Road, Columbia, Missouri. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Ian Thompson.

This event supports the mission of the 60-year-old Missouri Prairie Foundation (MPF) to protect and restore prairie and other native grassland communities through land acquisition, management, education, and research; to promote the use of native plants through its 26-year-old Grow Native! program; and to support the control of invasive plants through its administration of the Missouri Invasive Plant Council.

O’Fallon Park Watering Weekend - Forest ReLeaf
Join Forest ReLeaf in watering 120 trees at O’Fallon planting park with a hose, pump, bucket, and wagon system! With water pumped from O’Fallon lake and the park’s perimeter fire hydrants, you’ll help ensure that newly planted trees receive the 5-10 gallons needed to survive our city’s harsh summer temperatures. Water, snacks, and stretch breaks are built into the workday, but many hands will help to make sure we’re setting trees up for success.
Those using GPS should navigate to parking at E Harris Ave, St Louis, MO 63147 We’ll meet on the South East corner of Harris and W. Florissant.
This is a hands on, physically engaging activity that will require walking across uneven surfaces carrying 5-10 lbs of water. The activity takes place outdoors in full sun. Restrooms are available at the neighboring YMCA facility.

Grow Native! Webinar: Missouri Native Fern Propagation and Lessons Learned
Join Dr. Nadia Navarrete-Tindall for a presentation and question-answer session about how to propagate and grow native ferns, and other lessons learned during her three-year project: Growing Native Ferns as Specialty Crops in Missouri. Funded by the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, and in collaboration with the Grow Native! Program and the Institute of Botanical Training (IBT), the project aimed to increase awareness about Missouri native fern diversity and their potential as specialty crops. As part of the project, a fern demonstration area was established at the Finca EcoFarm on Lincoln University campus in Jefferson City; a Fern ID Handbook was developed, and two ID fern workshops were offered by IBT. At the completion of the project, the first Ferntastic Fair was organized. Join Nadia as she reviews simple protocols to propagate ferns by spores and division, encourages patience with the process, and reveals other lessons learned during the project to-date.
This free webinar, to be held via Zoom, will include a presentation and a live question-and-answer session. The webinar will be recorded, and a link to the recording will be sent to all registrants and posted to the MPF YouTube channel.
